Island top finally!

The quartz top finally arrived today. Here are some pictures:

Walkthrough, etc.

We did the walkthrough on Monday and everything looked good. There were a few things that needed to be addressed, but they were all minor.

We get the keys tomorrow and start the moving process. We will likely sleep there Friday night.

Not Much

We went over yesterday and they hadn't really done much. The painter finished the little things, and I think they capped off the central vac ports. They still have a lot to do: insulate and put vapour barrier on the entire basement, rough in the central vac to the garage, clean the entire place, install the microwave, fix the issue with the hole in the cold cellar being too close to the gas meter (less than 3 feet - duh, parging on the foundation, place all the vents, and probably a few other things that we haven't noticed.

Almost ready

Today they installed most of the carpet and the rest of the lights. The lights were working which made it a lot easier to get around.

Electrician was in today

Here's the master bathroom cabinet with the trim, hall light, the girls' bathroom with light and sink, kitchen with trim, and the kitchen sink.

No pictures (forgot the camera today) but...

The plumber was in today and installed all the toilets, sinks and fixtures, and the water's on. The siding is done and the gas roughins are complete (range and dryer). I didn't notice the one for the bbq, but I did see the cutoff in the basement for it.

The microwave has arrived. At the house, the insulation truck was there to fill the attic, the bricklayers put the final stone below the front door, the siding guy has placed the pillars and is almost done all the siding.

We noticed that he was putting the pillars in the wrong place. Apparently he wasn't told that we wanted one less pillar, so he was going by the original plan. Good thing I was there to tell him otherwise. Sheesh.

Kitchen tops installed, bathroom fixed

The tile guy fixed his error - although he told my dad that "the homeowner changed his mind". nice try - I spoke with the sales rep at the flooring company and he was dissapointed that the installer messed up - he said he went over it with him a couple times. Ugh.

Also, this is the kitchen without the crown moulding at the top, and also without the island. The island will be installed once we're in the house. It will be 4 feet by 10 feet and will have a sink and a beverage fridge in it, with a quartz top.

Tile error

The tiles pictured below have an error - there is supposed to be mosaic tile on the skirt part instead of just at the top. I mentioned it to Bernie at Brodrechts and they're going to fix it.

More new stuff

Here's the desk without the top cabinet, a picture of a door against the stained fireplace. They match not too badly. Below that is the master bathroom cabinets with the doors on. The stain colour looks different depending on the angle and the location of the flash. The picture of the desk is pretty close.

Also, the bricks are almost done and the siding is started. They still have a lot to do in the next 15 days...

Went in today - cabinets

Kitchen

Ang was able to sneak in while they were working today and take a couple pictures.

Fireplace

The fireplace was installed today, and the rooms that get cabinets (kitchen, bathrooms) have the finished coat of paint. Our bedroom and Isaac's room also have finished paint.

The bricks are done along the back and the one side of the house, with the other side of the house being about 1/3 done.

Minor developments today

The painter was in and did touchup work on all the walls, including added drywall compound to the areas that needed it. He also painted the top part of the wall in the kitchen. Someone added the kick-sweep to the floor as well - sounds like they're getting ready to install the cabinets.

More bricks were done today - not too happy with the attention to detail however.

Today's Progress

They added some drywall to the stairwell downstairs, grouted the tiles, and tiled and grouted the bathroom floor. No bricks because of the rain. Apparently Blogger doesn't want me to upload images right now.

Tiles and Bricks

The tile is done on the main floor (no grout yet), and the bricks have a healthy start at the back of the house.

Kids

The kids had a look around yesterday and Madeline took a couple great pictures.

Also, they're helping us pack.

Railing, Flooring

On friday they installed the railing - it looks great. The stain will be close to the cabinet colour. We have some lovely models assisting with the presentation here.

I laid out a couple tiles as they will be placed on the floor. I bet they start Monday (if not tomorrow).

Paint

The painters did in fact paint today. Ang and I went in and took some pics of the colour. We're likely going to paint a number of rooms almost right away, but hopefully this colour will be livable for now.

This is the studio closet. You can see the painted doors here. Hopefully they paint the walls tomorrow and the flooring can start.

Holy Smokes

Yesterday I went in and saw that they had hung all the doors and put up all the trim, except for the trim where there will be tile. They also drywalled the garage.

I drove by today and saw that there were painters in. I think they've painted all the doors and trim. I'll go in tonight and see if I can take pictures. Also, they have the scaffolding up for the bricks. I suspect they'll be starting soon.

Bricks are delivered

The bricks were delivered last week and I suspect they'll start Monday. The doors and trim were delivered today as well. The drywall still needs to be sanded I think.

Went by today....

The bricks are in the front yard. That's a good sign I think. The drywall mudders are basically done and I think they are going to sand tomorrow. I love it when they leave the back door unlocked.

New pics today

Here are the colour selections for the kitchen. The tile and door are visible, and the dark stone is the quartz that we will have on the island, and the other piece is the counter top we will have on the other cabinets.











The drywallers left the door open today so I snuck in and took some pictures. Here's the bathroom - there will be some cool tile work around the tub.
